Note: The steps described in the #1 Solution will only work for Windows® 7 Professional, Ultimate, and Enterprise. For Windows® 7 Starter, and Home Premium this will not work, unless the user manually activated the built-in administrator account. However, in simple terms the built-in default administrator in Windows® 7 Starter, and Home Premium is disabled by default.
Note: Windows® 7 Home Premium does not have Local Security Policy (LSP) and the Local Users and Groups (lusrmgr) Microsoft Management Console (MMC) snap-ins.

How to enable the Windows (Default) built-in Administrator? (Only for Windows 7 Starter and Home Premium users).
  • 1. Click Start Menu, and in the Instant Search type cmd, once it appears in the search result, simply right-click and select Run as administrator.

  • 2. Type the following command: net user administrator /active:yes
  • 3. If it successfully works then close the CMD and you're done.

How to reset your Windows Account Password using the built-in Windows Administrator account?

  • 2. After the BIOS initialization, hold down F8.
  • 3. Windows Boot Menu will appear, select Safe Mode with Networking.
